For the past three years, I've had an electric fence around this particular garden but I've had to remove it. For some reason, the wires rusted and, as a result, conducted less charge. A deer got trapped inside and basically trashed my raised beds as it struggled to get out.
I found this fencing material from http://www.critterfence.com. It's eight feet tall and the 100-foot roll will just about perfectly wrap around this space. This also will keep out the rabbits, which actually were an even bigger problem last year than the deer. I cemented in the treated 4x4 posts and am using tensioning wire across the top and bottom to keep the fence taut.
