Crop Circle Garden: End of season
The Crop Circle garden is a garden set in a 28-foot circle in our driveway.
This year, I grew peppers, tomatoes, green beans, spaghetti squash, sunflowers, and tomatillos in the Crop Circle garden. Today, I tore almost everything out of the garden. I left some tomatoes and some sunflowers.
This is the 4th or 5th year where I am not rototilling the garden. Instead, I am planting cover crops each winter and turning them in in the spring several weeks before planting. Today, I planted Clover seed into the soil as a cover crop. Interestingly, this year, I never had to weed the garden. Not even once. And when I pulled everything out, there were no more than just a handful of weeds in the entire garden. That is the benefit of not rototilling and planting cover crops.
