Here are the bees I got from Stedman's Bees in Silverdale, Washington. These bees were successfully hived over the weekend and I'm just now writing the followup report.
I had no issues at all while hiving, outside of that momentary panic when I removed the feeder can and a few bees came out right in front of my face. Of course, I was wearing a veil, but no gloves. I covered up the hole in the box and immediately put on gloves.
However, as I started to handle the bee box, pounding it down to settle the live bees in the bottom, I got over my initial fright and took off the gloves. I'm so glad I did. By the time I finished, I had bees on my hands and not once was I stung.
What a fun experience.
