Hive 6 swarmed today. I had ordered a new queen to split the hive but she didn't arrive in time. The bees settled about 60 feet up in a tall fir tree where they spent the night. I have several swarm traps on the property that got a LOT of attention throughout the day so I'm hoping that the bees will relocate to one of those traps come tomorrow.
UPDATE: Four days later (May 9) the bee swarm moved out of that tree to another tree about 50 feet away. Very odd behavior. Again, they are clustered on the trunk near protective branches.
